Pick a park and start planning your Almost Heaven getaway today! And don’t forget to complete and submit your challenge cards. Turn in the completed card at one of the West Virginia State Parks gift shops listed above and your child will receive an exclusive West Virginia State Parks Junior Adventurer Challenge medal and certificate. As your child finishes each challenge, initial the card to indicate it has been completed. Kids are invited to join in the fun, too! Parents can request a Junior Adventurer Challenge card for their children.

Plan an overnight stay and choose from tent and RV camping to a variety of cabins, cottages, and lodge rooms. There’s also naturalist programs and other live entertainment designed to appeal to every age group and interest.
People come to our parks to experience the natural beauty of Almost Heaven, but there also are a wide variety of recreational activities offered, including boating, horseback riding, golf, zipline aerial tours, mountain biking and more. Hike to a scenic overlook at Blackwater Falls and Hawks Nest state parks or Coopers Rock State Forest to watch the watch the clouds roll by. Check out the new Adventure Lakes filled with inflatables at Pipestem Resort and Tygart Lake state parks. Visit the pollinator fields at Chief Logan or Cacapon Resort state parks to discover a wide variety of beautiful wildflowers. Our Adventurer Challenge is designed to inspire you to visit a new park or try a new experience.
